Biography

Xiao-Dong Gao received his Ph.D. in 1994 at the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Science, University of Tokyo (advisor: Prof. Kazukiyo Onodera), and then joined the laboratory of Prof. Yoshifumi Jigami as a postdoctoral fellow at National Institute of Bioscience and Human Technology. From 1998 to 2002, he worked as a research scientist in the laboratory of Prof. Neta Dean at State University of New York at Stony Brook (SUNY), USA, and became an assistant professor in SUNY on April of 2002. At 2003, he went back to Research Institute for Glycoscience, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) as a senior research scientist, and then at 2006, moved to Hokkaido University where he has been working for 5 years as an associate professor at the Graduate School of Life Science. At 2011, he returned home to China, and work as the director of the Key Laboratory of Carbohydrate Chemistry and Biotechnology, Ministry of Education, Jiangnag University at Wuxi. Now, he works at State Key Laboratory of Biochemical Engineering, Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences.His research interests focus on the biosynthesis pathway of N-linked glycosylation in eukaryotic cell.
